Wet-haired Wednesday

Today was a beautiful fall day and we all enjoyed recess this afternoon together!  During SWR today we tapped out our red words and then wrote words in the "___it" family and words with the letters, "v", "y", and "u".  Y is a tricky letter because it sounds like "Why" but makes the "yuh" sound like the sound when you say the letter "u".   This week we've been listening for and thinking about words that start and end in "y".

Summer celebrated her awesome behavior by sharing her "stinky feet" with us and went without shoes in our classroom for the day!

It was towards the end of snack today, I looked around and saw this...

All of the students who were done eating, were sharing their favorite stories with one another and reading to each other.  The first graders have such an appreciation for reading and writing- it's really quite impressive.  These photos are totally unprompted and un-staged. I love it!

It was a P.E. day so... you know what that means!

sweaty heads (and first graders!)!

Just a reminder- tomorrow is our "Friday" this week!

Lastly, the students took our unit 2 math assessment today.  Look for those in their folders tomorrow!
