Whew! It was a whirlwind of a first day of school! Although we only got through about 1/3 of our planned activities, it was so enjoyable to come together as a class and get to know one another. I'm proud to report that students in Room 3 already know how to walk in the halls and play safely on the playground.
Most impressively, (and thanks to Colin for counting for us) our class earned FORTY warm-fuzzies on our very first day! Please congratulate your first grader tonight on their amazingly successful first day of school!

Open House
Hi Everyone and welcome to a new school year! Thanks so much to those of you who were able to stop in today for Open House. It was wonderful to see all of your children and meet their families!
For those of you who weren't able to stop in, I thought it would be fun to show you some pictures of our classroom (and what it looks like *before* school starts)!
I know it is going to be a wonderful year and am looking forward to our first official day of school tomorrow!
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Welcome to First Grade
Welcome
to First Grade! I am so excited to get
to know all of you. I hope you’ve had a
wonderful summer doing lots of fun activities with your family and friends- -
and that you’ve had a chance to eat lots of ice cream.
This year
will be full of fun projects and learning experiences. As school is
approaching quickly, I wanted to share some information about what to expect so
you can be prepared for our first days together! If you want to shop for school supplies, these
are some of the items you will be using:
pencils crayons markers
A small pencil box glue
sticks one-pocket folders
Writer’s journal
On the
first day of school I would like you to bring in something that would tell us
more about yourself. It may be a book,
stuffed animal, a picture or a favorite item.
We will not all know each other yet, so this will be a fun way to learn
about our class.
We will
be having snack time every day so try to bring a snack with you. You may also buy milk, juice or breakfast.
I cannot
wait to see all of you. There will be an open house for you and
your parents on Tuesday, August 28 from 8:00-9:00am. It will be an informal hour for you to
see the room and meet some of your classmates.
School starts Wednesday, August 29 at 8:15am.
I hope
this will be a special year for you.
Please talk to me when you have something to share, when you don’t
understand or when you are upset. I will
always listen carefully.
Sincerely,
Miss
Terrien
