New Beginnings

Today we were sad to say goodbye to our friend, Aaron, but we were so excited to share his very first lost tooth with him!  It couldn't have come at a better time!  Aaron will be leaving our classroom to begin a home-school opportunity with his family!  He will still be joining us for Music every week so we know that we will stay in touch.

Aaron is so excited for his tooth!

Today in SWR we made our "___it" family house.  We had SO many "it" words we couldn't even fit them all!  The first graders are doing such a great job with their handwriting and spelling.  They're so impressive!

During math today, we went over the assessment from yesterday.  It was an enlightening activity as some of the students realized..."oh no! I counted a nickel as a DIME!"  or "Oh my gosh! I counted total coins as the larger number, not the amount!"  The first graders loved being able to check their thinking and make corrections.  After that, we rotated through math workshop stations.  Check out some of our work during this time:

During reading and writing today we worked on writing and worked on our "When I Grow Up..." portraits.  Here's a sneak peek:

Can you guess who's this is?!?!?!

Monday starts our Food Drive week!  Please send in non-perishable items if you can!
