Thoughtful Thursday

It seems that with such nice weather lately we have a case of spring fever!  We've been working very hard this week to remember to use 6-inch, whisper, working voices; raise our hands when we would like to add to class conversations; and to always use kind voices and manners.

The first graders were ROCK STARS at SWR today.  They spelled every word correctly and quickly and were so impressive!  We have finished reviewing and will begin our final SWR assessment tomorrow.  I know everyone will do a wonderful job.

We built our own 3-dimensional shapes in math today.  This was a little tricky because we had to cut and fold so much paper.  After we finished those, we moved onto math centers.

The Moomin Family is stranded on an island in our story because a fierce storm has moved in.  We are enjoying the rich vocabulary and have added new words to our word bank like crimson, barometer, ominous, and dwell. When the first graders arrived this morning, they got right to work reading an informational piece about sea turtles and highlighted the important information. Look for them below!.

We candled our eggs again today and were excited to see that our chicks have grown!  Tomorrow is the last day that we will need to turn the eggs... after that, we have to let nature take over!

We learned about another oviparous animal today- the frog.  We are enjoying watching short videos about these animals together.
