Peep, Peep

I walked in this morning to the sounds of "peep", "peep", "peep".  I thought our chicks had hatched, but I couldn't find one anywhere in the incubator!  Did you know that chicks start to "peep" when they begin to crack through their shell?  We have many eggs that are starting to crack and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of some of our baby chicks!  We've been working so quietly all day because we love the sounds our chicks are making.

We realized during Morning Meeting today that we only have ten "real" days of school left!  Between a field trip, Step up Day and Project Inside Out we are REALLY getting down to the wire!  We were so surprised!

We had a special celebration during snack becuase it is Tucker's birthday today!  He brought in grapes, muffins, and rice krispie treats to share with us.  We loved everything!

We are reviewing temperatures in math and analyzed a weather map and had to answer questions about high and low temperatures.  We also had to find the difference between the high and low temperatures for different cities.  We were excited to see that Burlington, VT was on the map.  It was also the coldest place to live.  We weren't very surprised.  We made excellent observations about the tempterature trends in the north and south as well.

During literacy we discussed the difference between facts and opinions.  We played a fun game that required us to listen to statements and decide whether they were facts or opinions.  We also generated our own lists of facts and opinions.

We learned about a new oviparous animal today- the butterfly. We highlighted the most important information and added it to our chick folders.

Tomorrow is BEACH DAY!  Please remember to wear something beachy!
