Impatient

It sounded as though everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend with their families.  We are all so lucky in Room 3 to have such awesome moms to celebrate.

Our WOW word this week is impatient.  We are already very good at using this word in sentences and we were able to use many different varieties of the word (impatiently, impatience) as well.  Our favorite sentence today was, "We are waiting impatiently for our chicks to hatch!"  Indeed.

Our time during SWR this week will focus on a review of everything we've learned so far this year.  We are off to a great start!  We will have our final SWR assessment of the year at the end of this week or next week.

We reviewed polygons in math today and spent time building some.  We remembered that polygons have straight sides, come together at corners, and always connect or are closed.  We were very creative with the polygons we built.  We even had a decagon and a star!

We continued to read Finn Family Moomintroll today.  We are enjoying this book very much!  Ask your first grader what happened with the Hobgoblin's Hat and why it is so important... we are expecting it to cause some problems as we read more!

Our chicks are at Day 13.  They now are lightly covered in feathers!  We looked at a drawing of what the chicks look like inside of their eggs and can't believe that they are really starting to look like chicks!  We also learned about other animals that are oviporous (hatch from eggs).

There is an extremely important set of papers in your child's folder tonight regarding Project Inside Out.  Please fill out the forms and return them by Wednesday.  Thanks!
