Red Words

In S.W.R. we are rapidly adding to our Red Word (words you just NEED to know) bank.  So far we have:

a
the
can
look
see
am

These words, in cooperation with our word family words (___at and ___ab), make it possible for us to write many words (and sentences!) that we didn't think we "knew".  It has been an amazing discovery in Room 3.

Try to notice as many of these words as you can with you first grader.  Also, whenever you have time play word games like, I'm thinking of the word "cab" but now I took away the "c" and put an "l"- what word am I thinking about now?  (lab).  Creating flexibility with words will help your student recognize patterns in reading more readily.

We had a few students (!!!) earn a browse through the Awesome Behavior Catalog today.  Joud, celebrating from yesterday, led our Morning Meeting this morning.  The students made sure that I let her wear my lanyard with Warm Fuzzies and that she used the pointer.  She did a great job this morning!
