Happy Valentine's Day

Wow, we had a day filled with love in Room 3 today!  These first grade students are some of the kindest, sweetest children I have had the pleasure to work with. 

We took our SWR test first thing this morning so we didn't need to worry about it any more.  The first graders did a fabulous job tapping out their words when necessary and checking their writing for any mistakes. 

We read another book about Giant Pandas that we didn't have a chance to get to yesterday.  We learned even more about these amazing creatures.  Our favorite thing that we learned though, was that pandas are not actually bears even though many people call them "panda bears" because they look like bears.  Some zoologists believe that pandas are actually related to raccoons.  We learned about an animal called the Lesser Panda which REALLY looks like a raccoon! 

We spent time decorating our Valentine collection boxes and making cards for our family and friends.  We cut out paper hearts to decorate them and also decorated with stickers. 

We had so much fun at our party.  Thank you to everyone who helped make this event so much fun for all of us!
